The Esquimalt Farmers Market accepts vendor applications through an online application process each season. Applications are reviewed by market management to ensure products align with the market’s values, category balance, and overall customer experience.
Vendors are selected based on a variety of factors, including product quality, uniqueness, local production, presentation, sustainability practices, and how their products fit within the current market mix. Preference is often given to vendors who make, bake, grow, or create their products locally.
To maintain a diverse and balanced market, certain categories may have limited space availability throughout the season. When categories are full, applicants may be placed on a waitlist and contacted if space becomes available or for occasional drop-in opportunities.
All vendors are required to meet applicable health, safety, licensing, and insurance requirements before attending the market. Vendors selling food or beverages must also comply with Island Health regulations and any additional market policies regarding serving materials, sampling, and food preparation.
The market team strives to create a welcoming, high-quality, and community-focused vendor mix that supports both returning vendors and new small businesses.

All food and beverage vendors must comply with Island Health regulations and obtain any required permits or approvals before attending the market. Vendors are responsible for ensuring their products meet all food safety requirements, including safe food handling, sampling practices, and approved preparation methods.

-Geographical Requirements:
Preference is given to vendors based in Esquimalt, Greater Victoria, Vancouver Island, and surrounding local regions. The market prioritizes supporting local businesses, farms, artists, and producers.
-Vendor Setup Requirements:
Vendors are required to provide their own setup equipment, including tents, tables, weights, and display materials. Tents are mandatory for most vendors, especially food and beverage vendors, unless otherwise approved due to weather or special circumstances. All tents must be properly weighted for safety.
-Arrival & Market Conduct:
Vendors must arrive with enough time to be fully set up before market opening. Respectful conduct toward customers, staff, volunteers, neighboring vendors, and the surrounding community is expected at all times.
